After 20 years of cooperation across various fields, such as code-share agreement, fleet maintenance, and human resources training, etc., last October, Vietnam Airlines and Air France further enhanced their bilateral partnership by signing a Joint Venture Agreement. This contract will be implemented on November 1, 2017.

  This partnership will offer our passengers additional options and benefits on Vietnam – France routes. Combining the flight networks of both carriers will help to increase Air France's destinations in Vietnam from 3 to 20, while Vietnam Airlines' destinations in France and Europe rise from 14 to 50. In addition, passengers can enjoy shared promotion programs and incentives for frequent flyers, including Vietnam Airlines' Lotusmiles members and Air France's Flying Blue members. Passengers can also enjoy many special services offered by the SkyTeam Alliance, such as SkyPriority and Business lounges all over the world.

  The signed joint venture agreement will enable Vietnam Airlines and Air France to effectively tap into mutual resources, cut costs and improve business efficiency. As a result, the stature and competitiveness of Vietnam Airlines in France and Europe and the strength of Air France in Vietnam will be bolstered. This comprehensive and important cooperation will also cement a strong bridge between both countries in particular and Vietnam and Europe in general, helping to galvanize trade and investment promotions and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and France and the EU, thereby benefiting the governments, businesses and peoples of both countries.

Vietnam Airlines’ flights between Vietnam - France
•    In 2003, Vietnam Airlines launched its first direct route from Vietnam to France operated on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, the carrier’s first non-stop transcontinental flight.
•    In 2015, Vietnam Airlines operated the world’s most advanced Airbus A350-XWB aircraft on the Vietnam – France route with 4-star international service quality.
•    In 2016, Vietnam Airlines carried 300,000 passengers, making up 75% of the market share, on the direct Vietnam – France route.
•    Vietnam Airlines now operates 10 weekly flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Paris.
Milestones in partnership between Vietnam Airlines and Air France
•    1993: Vietnam Airlines started seat exchange cooperation with Air France on the Ho Chi Minh City – Paris route.
•    In 1997, Air France supported Vietnam Airlines in pilot training and technological transfer to successfully operate 10 Airbus A320 aircraft.
•    In 2010, Vietnam Airlines and Air France partnered in code-share on both routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Paris after Vietnam Airlines joined SkyTeam following official endorsement by Air France.
•    2012: Code-share was extended to all routes in both carriers’ flight networks.
2017: Vietnam Airlines – Air France joint venture agreement is signed.
