Members honored at the event include the First member to join the program, the member with the most miles, the member with the most flights, the member with the highest cumulative total miles over 20 years…. After 20 years of development, Golden Lotus - the first frequent flyer program of Vietnam's aviation - has reached over 3 million members.

Vietnam Airlines has just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Lotusmiles program – the first frequent flyer program of Vietnam’s aviation. Reaching over 3 million Lotusmiles members, this anniversary marks an important milestone in the development of Vietnam Airlines’ frequent flyer program, affirming its leading position in the development of policies, products, and services that maximize customer benefits.

Initiated in December 1999, Vietnam Airlines’ Lotusmiles program has undergone continuous modernization and has played an essential role in the product and service supply chain of the airline. In response to the digitalization trend – and to provide added customer convenience – Vietnam Airlines expanded its registration and membership platform to its website in 2009, and its mobile app in 2013. The program continues to provide its members with a wide range of benefits and exclusive offers from over 80 partners, including more than 20 carriers inside and outside the SkyTeam airline alliance, and 60 partners in the fields of finance, banking, tourism, hospitality, technology, telecommunications, etc.

Mr. Le Hong Ha - Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines said that the top development priorities of the Golden Lotus program include embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution by adopting modern technologies whilst transforming the core system of the frequent flyer program management.

Notably, in 2019, Lotusmiles members can now enjoy many parallel benefits to that of other 5-star frequent flyer programs, such as the Million Miler Program, and the purchase of air tickets with Cash & Miles. In December 2019, Lotusmiles members will continue to gain from new policies – for example, Titanium members can pass along rewards for their relatives, and members can exchange their bonus miles for qualifying miles to upgrade their membership tier.

Looking forward to 2020, Vietnam Airlines has set a goal to raise its Lotusmiles membership rates by 30% annually.  Development priorities to meet this goal include embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution by adopting modern technologies whilst transforming the core system of the frequent flyer program management.” said Le Hong Ha, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines.

The initiatives in the Lotusmiles program are expected to help Vietnam Airlines reach further towards being one of the foremost airlines in the Asia - Pacific region.

Vietnam Airlines will continue to expand its multidisciplinary cooperation, increase mile liquidity, launch new products such as Lotusmiles family and business accounts, and develop preferential ticketing programs for its members. These initiatives are expected to help Vietnam Airlines reach further towards being one of the foremost airlines in the Asia - Pacific region.
